The short version
This is a calculator, not an account. We don't ask for your name, email, or anything that identifies you. Salary figures you type never leave your device except inside share links you choose to copy. We use Google Analytics to see aggregate usage (how many visitors, which pages), and we may show ads through Google AdSense in the future — both use cookies, described below.
What we collect
Google Analytics 4 collects anonymized usage data: pages visited, approximate location (city level, derived from IP), device type, and session duration. On your first visit the homepage guesses your province from your IP address with a single lookup via ipapi.co so you don't have to pick it — the result is kept in your browser only, and nothing is stored on our servers. Your province choice is remembered in your own browser's local storage. We do not collect names, email addresses, or financial account details, and we never sell data.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: Google Analytics cookies (_ga and related) to measure aggregate traffic, and a local-storage entry for your province preference. If advertising is enabled in the future, Google AdSense and its partners will use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google's Ads Settings (google.com/settings/ads) or at youradchoices.ca. Blocking cookies will not break the calculator.
Third-party vendors
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting youradchoices.ca.
How we use the data
Aggregate analytics are used only to understand which pages and calculators people find useful and to prioritize improvements. We do not build profiles of individual visitors and we do not share analytics data with anyone except Google as our analytics provider.
Data retention and your rights
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted. Because we hold no accounts or personal records, there is nothing to request a copy of — but if you believe we hold data about you, or you are in Quebec and wish to exercise rights under Law 25, contact the site operator (details below) and we will respond.
Children
This site is a general-audience tax estimator, not directed at children under 13, and we knowingly collect no data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially — for example when advertising is enabled — the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
